Abstract
Mikorizne gljive su asocijacija gljiva, predstavnika Zygomyceta, Basidiomyceta i Ascomyceta koje žive na korijenu viših biljaka. Prvi ih je otkrio Albert Bernard Frank (1885.). Nađeni su fosilni ostaci mikoriznih gljiva na korijenu prvih vaskularnih biljaka koji potječu iz perioda Devona oko 400 mil.godina prije nove ere. Botaničari smatraju da je stvaranje ove simbiotske asocijacije imalo presudnu ulogu u razvoju i širenju vaskularnih biljaka na zemlji. Osim što su utjecale na razvoj vaskularnih biljaka, mikorizne gljive su utjecale i na razvoj tla. Mikorize produciraju humusne komponente i organski lijepak (ekstracelularni polisaharidi) koji lijepe tlo u agregate, tako da su tla sa velikim udjelom mikoriza u ukupnoj mikrobnoj biomasi strukturna i dobre poroznosti. Inokulacija mikoriznim gljivama pospješuje se uspostavljanje efektivne simbioze, a ona će doprinjeti boljem i pravilnijem razvoju korjenovog sustava. Zbog niza koristi koje biljke imaju u simbiozi s mikoriznim gljivama smanjuje se potreba za mineralnom gnojidbom i upotrebom pesticida, što je s ekonomskog i ekološkog aspekta od iznimnog značaja.

Mycorrhizas are associates of fungi, representatives of Zygomyceta, Basidiomyceta and Ascomyceta living on the higher plant roots. Albert Bernard Frank in 1885 first discovered them. Mycorrhizal fungi fossil residues werw found on the roots of the first vascular plants derived from the Devon period approx. 400 mil. years B.C. Botanists think that this symbiotic association played an essential role in developing and spreading vascularplants on the earth. However, regardless of their effect on vascular plants development of mycorrhizal fungi affected soil development. They produce humous components and an organic sticky substance (extra-cellular polysaharides) that hold soil intoaggregates resulting in a well structured soil of good porosity and a large mycorrhizas intake in the total microbial bio-mass. Inoculation with mycorrhized promotes the establishment of an effective symbiosis, contribute to a better and more regular development of the root system. This procedure is capable for ensuring effective symbiosis and reducing mineral fertilizer and pesticide requirements being very important from economical and ecological aspect.
