Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Soil microfauna is rich with a wide range of organisms including entomopathogenic nematodes and mites. These organisms are present in all agroecosystems. The aim of this work is to detect and identify entomopathogenic nematodes and mites in the soil, and determine their interaction. Soil samples were taken from several agroecosystems. The laboratory experiment was conducted to determine the interaction between entomopathogenic nematodes (Oscheius sp. and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora) and soil mites. Entomopathogenic nematodes from the genus Oscheius and soil mites from the group Oribatidae were identified from the soil samples. Number of entomopathogenic nematodes decreased after their exposure to the soil mites from the group Oribatidae. Statistically significant difference in the number Oscheius sp. was observed between the first and the last day of the experiment. After nematodes were exposed to the mites Oribatida, about 39% of Oscheius sp., and 62% of H. bacteriophora larvae have survived. Results indicate that antagonisms exists between entomopathogenic nematode EPNs and soil mites from group Oribatida. Mites used in this trial fed on nematodes, and can be considered as their natural enemy.
