Abstract
Cilj ovog završnog rada je bio prikazati osnovne karakteristike, proizvodnju i tehnologiju uzgoja kukuruza šećerca na podruĉju Republike Hrvatske i u svijetu. To je podvrsta kukuruza koja se po svojstvima zrna i karakteristikama uzgoja znaĉajno razlikuje od uobiĉajenog merkantilnog kukuruza te se zbog naĉina upotrebe tretira i kao povrćarska kultura. Zrno je visoke nutritivne vrijednosti, bogato je jednostavnim šećerima, proteinima, vitaminima i mineralnim tvarima. Upotrebljava se iskljuĉivo za ljudsku prehranu u svjeţem i preraĊenom stanju. Kukuruz šećerac je mutant zubana gdje mutacija su gena uvjetuje veću akumulaciju šećera u endospermu. Prema zastupljenosti recesivnih gena postoje tri tipa hibrida: su (standardni, umjereno slatki), se (slatki) i sh2 (super-slatki), a koriste se iskljuĉivo F1 hibridi. Postoje rani, srednje kasni i kasni hibridi, a duţina vegetacije je 70 – 90 dana. Tehnološka zrioba je u doba mlijeĉne zriobe. Kukuruz šećerac se moţe uzgajati kao glavni i postrni usjev, a sjetvu obavljamo poĉetkom travnja pa sve do srpnja. Sije se u više rokova, sukcesivno, što omogućuje višekratnu berbu. Potrebna je izolacija od drugih usjeva kukuruza

The aim of this final work was to show the basic characteristics, production and technology of sweet corn growing. It is a subspecies of maize which is in its grain properties and characteristics of the growing significantly different from the usual commercial maize. Because of the way of use sweet maize is often treated as a vegetable crop. Grain have a high nutritional value, it is rich in simple sugars, proteins, vitamins and minerals. It is used solely for human consumption as fresh and processed. Sweet maize is the mutant of dent maize where mutations of su gene causes greater accumulation of sugar in the endosperm. According to the presence of recessive genes there are three types of hybrids: su (standard, moderately sweet), se (sweet) and sh2 (super sweet). Only F1 hybrids are using. There are early, mid-late and late hybrids with growing season duration 70-90 days. Technological maturity is at the time of milk ripening. Sweet maize can be grown as a main and stubble crop, and sowing can be carried out from April until middle of July. It must be sown successively, in several terms, which enables multiple harvesting. Also, isolation from other maize crop is required.
