Abstract
Dijatomejska zemlja (DZ) je vjerojatno najdjelotvornije prirodno prašivo koje se rabi kao insekticid. Djeluje preteţito sorpcijom, a donekle i abrazijom, oštećujući voštani sloj na tijelu kukca koji štiti kukca od gubitka vlage iz tijela. Kroz oštećena mjesta kukci gube vlagu iz tijela te nakon odreĎenog vremena, zbog isušivanja, ugibaju. U radi je prikazan insekticidni učinak dva uzorka hrvatske DZ, OP-4 i D-01, te američke DZ: Celatom® Mn 51, na dvije vrste skladišnih kukaca: riţinog ţiţka Sitophilus oryzae (Linnaeus) i ţitnog kukuljičara Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius). Uzorak DZ D-01 je u svim tretmanima pokazao visoko insekticidno djelovanje i to u istom rangu djelotvornosti kao i standard Mn-51. Nakon 14 dana ekspozicije postignut je 100% - tni mortalitet kod S. oryzae, odnosno 57,75% kod R. dominica. Uzorak DZ OP-4 je pokazao opravdano djelovanje samo za vrstu S. oryzae (mortalitet od 55,75% nakon 7 dana, odnosno 97,25% nakon 14 dana ekspozicije), dok je za vrstu R. dominica doza od 500 ppm nedostatna za učinkovito suzbijanje. U svim tretmanima s DZ senzibilnija vrsta je bila S. oryzae. Kod vrste R. dominica, djelotvornost uzoraka D-01 i Mn-51 je smanjena za 1,8 puta, odnosno za 2,4 puta, dok je djelotvornost uzorka OP-4 smanjena za čak 28 puta. Svi testirani uzorci DZ značajno su smanjili broj potomstva kod obje vrste kukaca. Ovim rezultatima pokusa dokazano je da u Hrvatskoj postoje nalazišta DZ s povoljnim insekticidnim svojstvima i da je moguće razviti našu učinkovitu, prirodnu i ekološki prihvatljivu formulaciju dijatomejske zemlje.

Diatomaceous earth (DE) is probably the most effective natural tracking powder, which is used as an insecticide. It works mainly by sorption and limited abrasion, damaging the wax coating on the insect's body that protects the insect from losing moisture from the body. Through the damaged areas insects lose moisture from the body, and after some time, due to drying they die. The work has shown insecticidal effect of two samples DE, OP-4 and D-01, and US DE: Celatom® Mn 51, on two types of storage insects: rice weevil Sitophilus oryzae (Linnaeus) and lesser grain borer Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius). Sample D-01 in all treatments showed high insecticidal activity in the same range efficiency as the standard Mn-51. After 14 days of exposure it was achieved 100% - percent mortality of S. oryzae, or 57.75% for R. dominica. Sample OP-4 showed a significant influence of the type of S. oryzae (mortality of 55.75% after 7 days and 97.25% after 14 days of exposure), while the other R. dominica dose of 500 ppm is insufficient for effective combat. In all treatments with DE more sensitive species was S. oryzae. In the R. dominica, the effectiveness of the samples D-01 and Mn-51 was reduced by 1.8 times, or 2.4 times, while the effectiveness of the sample OP-4 reduced by as much as 28 times. All samples tested DE significantly reduce the number of offspring in both types of insects. These results have proven that in Croatia there are sites DE with low insecticide properties and that it is possible to develop our effective, natural and environmentally friendly formulation of diatomaceous earth.
