Abstract
Košnica i tehnologija pčelarenja zajedno čine „alat“ kojim pčelar kontrolira nagone pčelinje zajednice i koristi njihov potencijal za određenu proizvodnju npr.: meda, voska, peludi itd.

Beekeeping is a specific branch of agricultural production, which in recent decades occupies a very important place because of pollination role of bees, which is their primordial role in nature. Cognitions of the bee biology started the era of modern beekeeping, from which it enters from its extensive phase to the intensive branch of the economy. With honey and wax as the most widespread bee products, other bee products have been recognized with beneficial effects on human health. Discoveries related to the biology of bee colonies enabled the development of modern beekeeping, virtually technology development of beekeeping. Although people have settled bees in dwellings of their own devising - hives, bee colony is still guided by their primordial instincts, and the foundamental instinct is the desire for the survival of the specie or breeding which in matter of bees is called swarming call. Hives and beekeeping technology together constitute a "tool" that beekeeper uses to control impulses of the bee colonies and uses their potential for a particular production such as: honey, wax, pollen, etc. Swarming urge the cause of outage of the working mood in the colony and beekeeper must take all technological interventions for prevention. To achieve high yield of honey per hive in acacia pasture, it is necessary to have a strong bee colonies containing 50,000 to 70,000 bees. Strong bee colony can grow only to the young and fertile queen bee, along with enhancing colonies with mature brood from auxiliary colonies or by merging weaker colonies. Prior to the major pasture it is necessary to limit the brood, to transpose focus of the bees to nectar collecting. A strong colony of bees will produce several times more honey per hive than weak or moderate bee colony.
