Abstract
Gniježđenje započinje krajem siječnja zauzimanjem teritorija i gradnjom gnijezda. Zbog malog broja populacije pripada u strogo zaštićene vrste, a najviše ih ugrožavaju eksploatacije šumskih površina, isušivanje voda, te razna zagađenja.

In Eastern Croatia an important bird species represents the White-tailed Sea Eagle. In this paper is writen about living and eating habits and needs of White-tailed Eagles, their distribution in habitats of Eastern Croatia, look and build, certain procedures that should be applied in order to preserve and protect this strictly protected species. White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) is the only species of the genus Haliaeetus that lives in Europe and in Croatia is widespread in our two large Nature Parks – Kopački rit i Lonjsko polje. They are attached to the large rivers, lakes, wetlands that are rich in fish and other food. Body length of eagle is 66-94 cm, with wingspan between 1,80 and 2,50 m and body weight of 4-7 kg. Nesting begins in late January by taking the territory and nest bilding. Eagles build their nests on old and tall trees whose strength is necessary for holding construction weighing up to several hundred kilograms. Female lay 1-3 eggs with a duration of 35-38 days of incubation. In the incubation, as well as in the nest construction and repairing both oft he parents participate. Because of the small number of the population, White-tailed Eagles belongs in a strictly protected species, and most of them are threaten by exploitation of forest areas, water drainage and various pollution.
