Abstract
Matična mliječ je od davnina poznata kao prirodni eliksir koji čuva zdravlje i vitalnost čovjeka. Od njezinih mnogobrojnih visokovrijednih sastojaka, iz skupine lipidnih spojeva izdvaja se 10-hidroksi-2-decenska kiselina (10-HDA), nezasićena masna kiselina, u prirodi prisutna samo u matičnoj mliječi. 10-HDA ima protubakterijsko i protuupalno djelovanje, regulira rad imunološkog sustava i ima druge važne biološke učinke. Njezin sadržaj određuje kvalitetu matične mliječi, a posljedično i njezinu učinkovitost kao i učinkovitost proizvoda u koji je ugrađena kao sastavna komponenta. Zbog netočnog deklariranja, a često i krivotvorenja, javila se potreba za sustavnom kontrolom proizvoda s matičnom mliječi, posebno dodataka prehrani i kozmetike. Biološki učinci mliječi u olakšavanju zdravstvenih tegoba ljudi poznati su tisućama godina u narodnoj medicini istočnjačkih kultura. Najviše i najuspješnije se koristi u terapiji bolesti i stanja kod kojih postoji kompleksno oštećenje regeneracijskih mehanizama i normalnog tonusa organizma.

Royal jelly has long been known as a natural elixir that preserves human health and vitality. From its many highly valuable ingredients, from the group of lipid compounds, we can single out 10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid (10-HDA), unsaturated fatty acid, that is present in the nature exclusively in royal jelly. 10-HDA has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity, it regulates the immune system and has other important biological effects. Its content determines the quality of royal jelly, and consequently, its efficiency as well as effectiveness of the product in which it is incorporated as an integral component. Due to the incorrect labeling and often counterfeiting, there is a need for systematic control of products with royal jelly, especially of food supplements and cosmetics. Biological effects of royal jelly in facilitating health problems of people have been well-known for thousands of years in traditional medicine of Eastern cultures. Its widest and most thriving use is in treatment of diseases and conditions by which there is a complex damage of regeneration mechanisms and normal tonus in the organism.
