Abstract
Cilj rada bio je prikazati trenutno stanje u proizvodnji i potrošnji mlijeka u Republici Hrvatskoj. Struktura prerade i trženja prehrambenih proizvoda u Hrvatskoj nepovoljna je u odnosu na razvijene zemlje. Hrvatska po razvijenosti gospodarstva i proizvodnji mlijeka značajno zaostaje za članicama Europske unije. Organizacija sustava otkupa i prijevoza mlijeka u Hrvatskoj je prilagođena nerazvijenoj proizvodnoj strukturi i velikom broju kooperanata s malim dnevnim i godišnjim isporučenim količinama mlijeka. Proizvodnja mlijeka na hrvatskim farmama iz godine u godinu pada, a mjere kojima bi se ona povećala i dugoročno ustabilila, ne postoje. U 2013. godini ukupni pad proizvodnje mlijeka iznosio je 16,6 % u odnosu na 2012. godinu. Prema posljednjim podacima Državnog zavoda za statistiku u Hrvatskoj je u travnju 2014.g. ukupna količina prikupljenog kravljeg mlijeka bila 8,5 % veća nego u travnju prošle godine, dok je proizvodnja mlijeka za piće pala za 12,2 %.

Parallel abstract (English)
The aim of the paper was to show the current situation of milk production and consumption in Croatia. The structure of processing and marketing of the food product in Croatia is unfavourable in comparison to the developed countries. According to the economy development and milk production Croatia significantly falls behind the countries which are the members of the European Union. The organisation of milk purchase and its transportation in Croatia is adjusted to undeveloped production structure and to numerous subcontractors with small daily and annual milk delivery. The milk production on Croatian farms decreases each year and there are no measurements which will increase and stabilize it. In 2013 the overall production decline was 16.6% compared to 2012. According to the recent data of Croatian Bureau of Statistics the total amount of collected cow milk in April 2014 was 8.5% higher than in April last year while the production of drinking milk decreased for 12.2%.
