Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
White clover (Trifolium repens, L.) is the most important pasture leguminoze. Genum Trifolium includes more than 250 species from which 10 have agronomic significance. White clovers Trifolium hybridum and Trifolium ambiguum are perennial plants in subspecies Lotoidea. Centers of origin are: west Mediterranean, east Africa and south America. Specific of white clover is in structure of stalk that its made of stolons. Thanks of stalk structure white clover is ressistant to defoliation and other stress (carbonhydrate stock). It is important to conclude that white clover has a compatibillity with grasses in early spring. Leaf size of white clover decides which type of stock production will be used. Cultivars with small leaf size are used for continuous grazing, middle type cultivars are used in rotation grazing, large type and extra large are used in zero grazing or silage and haylage. Cultivars with large leaf size are Ladino type. White clover has much more nutritive value because it contains more protein and less fibers than grasses. These characteristics have better effect on digestion in ruminants.
