Abstract
Kozarstvo je grana stočarstva koja se bavi uzgojem koza i njihovim iskorištavanjem radi dobivanja kozjih proizvoda, ponajprije mesa i mlijeka te krzna, kože, dlake i rogova. Kozje je meso kao namirnica životinjskog podrijetla bogata bjelančevinama, vitaminima i mineralima dok je količina masnoće, a posebice kolesterola niska. Proizvodnja se kozjeg mesa u Republici Hrvatskoj temelji na dvjema autohtonim pasminama ( hrvatska bijela i hrvatska šarena koza ) te na burskoj pasmini koza. U Republici se Hrvatskoj uzgaja oko 65 000 rasplodnih koza, a uzgojno se selekcijski rad provodi na 6277 grla. Nadzor nad uzgojno selekcijskim radom nad kozama provodi Hrvatska poljoprivredna agencija. Nadziranje se odvija u okviru sljedećih aktivnosti : kontrola reprodukcijskih osobina, kontrola mliječnosti u stadima mliječnih pasmina te provedba biološkog, performance i progenog testa.

Goat breeding is a field in animal husbandry which point of interest is goat farming and using them for meat, milk, hide, skin and horns. As a foodstuff of animal origin it is rich woth proteins, vitamins and minerals and poor with cholesterol. Production of goat meat in Croatia is based on two indigenous breeds ( croatian white and croatian colorful goat ) and boer goat. . In Croatia there are 65 000 reproductive goats an on 6277 is conducted cultivation and selection. Supervising of cultivating and selection is administered by Hrvatska poljoprivredna agencija. Administering consist of : control of reproduction abilities in herds valuable for breeding, control of milk production in herds of milk goat, implementation of biological,performance and progeny tests and measuring quality of fiber and skin.
