Abstract
Bosiljak spada u porodicu usnača ili Lamiaceae. Listovi su glatkog ili nazubljenog ruba, zelene ili ljubičaste boje, a cvijet karakterističan za porodicu Lamiaceae bijele do blijedo roze boje. Jednogodišnja je zeljasta biljka, razmnožava se sjemenom ili reznicama. Bosiljak se uzgaja u podrujima tople i umjerene klime. Dobro podnosi visoke temperature i kraća sušna razdoblja što se ponekad očituje većom koncentracijom eteričnog ulja u biljci. Optimalna temperatura za uzgoj je 20-25°C. Kao dio njege nasada bitno je uklanjati korove, planski provoditi navodnjavanje te prevenirati pojavu bolesti. Glavna sastavnica ulja je metilklavikol. Za dobivanje droge herba se suši te se dobiva suha droga ili destilira na vodenoj pari pa se dobiva eterično ulje. U ovom istraživanju je ispitan utjecaj medija rasta na morfološka svojstva i prinos herbe bosiljka. Obradom podataka je utvrđeno značajno povećanje svih istraživanih parametara kod proizvodnje bosiljka na mješavini tla i supstrata u omjeru 1:1 u usporedbi s prirodnim tlom. Prema tome, iako je bosiljak biljka skromnih zahtjeva, obogaćivanje tla i njegov popravaka značajno utječu na količinu i kvalitetu prinosa herbe jer je masa suhe herbe bila dvostruko veća kod mješavine tla i supstrata.

Basil belongs to the family Lamiaceae. The leaves have smooth or serrated edge, green or purple color, and flower has characteristic color of the family Lamiaceae, white to pale pink. It is an annual plant and an herbaceous plant, propagated by seeds or cuttings. Basil is grown in warm and temperate climates. It withstands high temperatures and shorter dry periods what is sometimes reflected by higher concentration of essential oils in the plant. The optimum temperature for the cultivation is 20-25 ° C. As part of the care of plantations it is important to remove weeds, well planned watering scheme and planned approach to prevent the occurrence of disease. The main component of the oil is metilklavikol. Herb can be prepared for usage by drying or by distilling from which oil is obtained. This investigation was carried out to determine the influence of growth medium on morphological characteristics and yield of basil. Data analysis showed significant increase in both fresh and dry weight of leaves, flowers and whole plant when grown on soil-substrate mixture in ratio 1:1 compared to natural soil. Accordingly, although basil doesn’t have high demands towards agroecological conditions, enrichment of soil with organic matter and/or soil conditioning will both significantly affect on quantity and quality of basil yield.
