Abstract
Najvažniji čimbenik upotrebe NPN spojeva kao izvora N kod goveda je ekonomska prednost ispred tradicionalnih izvora proteina. Najčešći neproteinski dušični (NPN) spoj koji se koristi u prehrani preživača je urea. Količina NPN-spojeva koji se mogu koristiti je ograničena zbog brze hidrolize ovog izvora N, što uzrokuje nakupljanje i izlazak amonijaka iz buraga. Riješavanje tog problema postignuto je stvaranjem sporo otpuštajućih NPN spojeva sa zaštitnim omotačem. Iz ovoga se jasno vidi kako primjena zaštićenih NPN spojeva u krmnim smjesama kod tovne junadi nije samo predmet ekonomske računice već se ogleda i u drugim pozitivnim korelacijama

The most important factor in the use of NPN compounds as a source of nitrogen in cattle is an economic advantage over traditional sources of protein. The most common non-protein nitrogen compound used in the nutrition of ruminants is urea. The amount of the NPN – compounds that can be used is limited due to rapid hydrolysis of the nitrogen source, which causes the accumulation and release of ammonia from the rumen. Solving this problem is accomplished by creating a protected NPN compounds with a protective layer. From this we can see that the application of protected NPN compounds in beef cattle feed is not only the subject of economic calculation but is also reflected in other positive correlations.
