Abstract
Šećerna repa je zahtjevna ratarska kultura što se odnosi na proizvodnju, ali i ulaganja u proizvodnju. Proizvodnja korijena šećerne repe traži posebnu pažnju od samog početka planiranja za sjetvu pa sve do vađenja. Šećerna repe je vrlo osjetljiva u ranim fazama razvoja kada joj najveću prijetnju predstavljaju štetnici, posebno pipa. U daljnjim fazama razvoja velika pozornost se mora posvetiti bolestima šećerne repe koje mogu nanijeti velike ekonomske štete ne uoči li ih se na vrijeme. Najveće štete na našem području uzrokuje pjegavost lista ili cerkospora. Proizvodnja šećerne repe u Austriji, Njemačkoj i Francuskoj je na vrlo visokom stupnju razvoja. Njihovi proizvođači ostvarju visoke prinose s visokim digestijama, što znači odličan izvor sirovine za njihove šećerane. Rizik proizvodnje je smanjen na minimum zbog ulaganja u sustave za navodnjavanje, te udruživanja proizvođača zbog lakše kupovine skupih strojeva. Proizvodnja u Republici Hrvatskoj zaostaje za promatranim državama zbog manjih prinosa, često loše zaštite usjeva od bolesti što dovodi do smanjenja digestije. Velik problem za proizvodnju su male površine pod navodnjavanjem, te uslijed sušnih ljeta proizvodnja jako opada i postaje neisplativa. Kako bi proizvodnja šećerne repe u Republici Hrvatskoj bila održiva i konkurentna organizatori proizvodnje moraju osigurati kvalitetan sjemenski i zaštitini mateijal, kako bi se moglo proizvesti više i kvalitetnije sirovine za prerdu. Proizvođači kako bi imali bolje rezultate proizvodnje moraju ulagati u sustave za navodnjavanje, poštivati tehnologiju proizvodnje te su udruživati kako bi mogli nabaviti kvalitetne i skupe strojeva za vađenje šećerne repe. Ukidanje kvota za izvoz šećera 2017. godine te rast cijena šećera sigurno su dobar pokazatelj za budućnosti proizvodnje šećera u Republici Hrvatskoj.

Sugar beet is sure one of the most demanding agricultural cultures, she demands great effort on production but also in investing. Production the root of the sugar beet demands special attention right from seeding in spring and to the extraction of beet in autumn. Sugar beet is very sensitive in the early stages of development, when the greatest threat for her are the pests, especially beet weevil (Bothynoderes punctiventris Germ). In further stages of development, great attention must be given to sugar beets diseases that may cause major economic damages if they are not spotted on right time, the biggest damages are caused by Cercospora. Production of sugar beet in Austria, Germany and France is on high level of development. Their producers monetize large proceeds with great sweetness of sugar beets root, which means the great source of the raw materials for their sugar factories. The risk of production is reduced, because producers invest in systems for watering and smaller producers are uniting when they are buying expensive machines. Production in Croatia is lower than in these countries because farmers in Croatia have smaller proceeds, protection of crops is not that good which leads to diseases and diseases causes smaller incomes. The big problem for production is small number of areas which have watering system and that enables the drought to make the production not profitable. If we want to make the production of sugar beet in Croatia becomes competitive, the managers of sugar beet factories must provide high quality seeds and high protective materials which would lead to competitive production. Producers for better outcomes must invest in watering systems, also they must use a new ways of productions, and they must buy together expensive machines for the extraction of beet. The abolition of the sugar beet quotes for export in 2017 and the growth the sugars price on the world market are the good sign for production of sugar beet
